During my Christmas stay at this hotel, I was impressed by the stunning scenery surrounding the property. One aspect that I didn't particularly like about my stay was the age of the hotel. It was built in 1936, so some areas showed signs of wear and could use a bit of updating.

I had the most tranquil and amazing experience during my stay at Gougane Barra. The view of the lake and surrounding scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel's location in the beautiful Gouganne Barra lake and forest added to the allure. The staff, especially Neil and Katy, were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food at the hotel, both dinner and breakfast, was excellent. I loved the fact that there was a menu with a choice for breakfast, something I haven't seen in a long time. And to top it off, I got to enjoy a free row boat ride. I highly recommend this hotel.

Spent Xmas at a remote hotel in the Irish countryside. Complementary marshmallows and hot chocolate were a nice touch. The lake and mountain views were stunning and the fresh air was a great way to start the day.
