During my Christmas stay at this hotel, I was impressed by the stunning scenery surrounding the property. The location was absolutely breathtaking, with beautiful walking trails and a picturesque lake right in front. Additionally, the service provided by the staff was top-notch. They were friendly, helpful, and made me feel welcome throughout my stay.
One aspect that I didn't particularly like about my stay was the age of the hotel. It was built in 1936, so some areas showed signs of wear and could use a bit of updating.

I had the most tranquil and amazing experience during my stay at Gougane Barra. The view of the lake and surrounding scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel's location in the beautiful Gouganne Barra lake and forest added to the allure. The staff, especially Neil and Katy, were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food at the hotel, both dinner and breakfast, was excellent. I loved the fact that there was a menu with a choice for breakfast, something I haven't seen in a long time. And to top it off, I got to enjoy a free row boat ride. I highly recommend this hotel.

Spent Xmas at a remote hotel in the Irish countryside. Complementary marshmallows and hot chocolate were a nice touch. The lake and mountain views were stunning and the fresh air was a great way to start the day.
The hotel was underwhelming. The room smelled of damp, the bed was uncomfortable and the shower pressure was weak.
Tourists from United States often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
